Ex-Tottenham scout offers Timo Werner transfer verdict amid Manchester United speculation
Ex-Tottenham employee Bryan King believes that Timo Werner is not good enough for a top Premier League club amid speculation that Manchester United are interested in the Spurs loanee.
Werner joined Ange Postecoglou’s side on loan from RB Leipzig in January, with the six-month deal including an option to make the transfer permanent for a fee of £14.5million.
Spurs have until 14 June to activate that option, and should they delay a decision beyond that point, they would need to renegotiate a fresh transfer agreement (The Sunday Mirror, 17 March)
Manchester United have reportedly been interested in Werner, and in light of this news, King has offered his verdict on the German.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “I’m not having that, he is not a Manchester United player.
“I can’t see him being a central part of Tottenham or United, I just cannot see it. I don’t think either club should sign him.
“He doesn’t excite me at all. Unless he is right in front of goal and the ball is put on a plate he is not a threat.”

Werner has had a mixed time in North London thus far.
At times he’s been electric, getting himself on the scoresheet more frequently in recent weeks. However, when he came off the bench in Spurs’ 3-0 defeat to Fulham (16 March), he missed a golden opportunity which demonstrated his inconsistent nature.
Daniel Levy will be thinking about whether or not to pay the £14.5million it will take to make the 27-year-old’s stay permanent, and he will likely utilise all the time he has available to him.
For Werner, that gives the forward a couple more months to showcase why Spurs cannot afford to let him go.
