England make ‘huge error’ with ‘outstanding’ Tottenham gem
England could be made to regret what happened with one “outstanding” Tottenham gem during the March international break.
Thomas Tuchel recently named his first squad as England manager.
While Dominic Solanke was called up by the Three Lions, there was no room in the squad for the in-form Djed Spence.
This is a decision which didn’t go down well among Spurs supporters. However, it wasn’t just at senior level where there were some controversial picks.
A handful of Spurs players were snubbed by England at youth level too, which resulted in the suggestion that an agenda against Tottenham exists. As a result, one player has taken matters into his own hands and made a decision which could be seen down the line as a blow to England.

Jamie Donley makes a big career change
Jamie Donley recently swapped his international allegiance and will now represent Northern Ireland rather than England.
And after being snubbed by the England youth squads, Donley has already been thrown right in at the deep end and been selected for the senior Northern Ireland squad.
It is a big decision for the 20-year-old, who is on loan from Tottenham at Leyton Orient this season.
However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks this is a decision which will come back to haunt England, rather than Donley.
“This is England’s loss, I do not doubt that,” Wenham said.
“Donley is starting week in, week out and is one of the outstanding players in League One.
Leyton Orient | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Jamie Donley | 40 | 6 | 6 |
“However, academy players were still being picked ahead of him, which is a huge error and a decision which will come back to haunt England.
“For Northern Ireland, what a coup this is. Donley could end up playing more than 100 times for the country if he progresses as I expect that he will.
“I’m delighted for Donley; it gives him a great opportunity to enhance his experience as a footballer.”

Donley could become a star for Tottenham
This recent decision will benefit Tottenham as well as Donley.
The young playmaker is displaying plenty of potential and gaining lots of experience in senior men’s football on loan in League One.
However, now that he has received a senior international call-up, he will be gaining even more experience, which could fast-track his development and help him become a star at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
