Eberechi Eze to Tottenham: ‘Exceptional’ claim made amid £60m transfer news

Ange Postecoglou could turn things around with the arrival of Eberechi Eze at Tottenham.

Postecoglou has struggled in his second season as Spurs manager.

An injury crisis unlike many seen before in North London has no doubt made things more difficult than they needed to be. However, Postecoglou has also been questioned at times for his style of play.

Therefore, if the Australian is to remain in charge next season, he will need to prove his worth, and having a player like Eze, who Tottenham missed out on previously, in his squad will no doubt help.

Tottenham lead the way for Crystal Palace star Eze

As reported by TBR Football (19 February), Spurs are at the front of the queue to sign Crystal Palace star Eze amid interest from other Premier League clubs.

The 26-year-old has a £60million release clause in his contract at Selhurst Park, and while Palace are prepared to lose Eze, they would expect any transfer fee to match that price point, which could be of big benefit to Championship club QPR.

And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – would be in favour of Postecoglou’s side signing Eze in the summer transfer window.

“This is a player that would improve Tottenham,” Wenham said.

“Eze is exceptional, a proven Premier League player who has that magic about him. He is Crystal Palace’s best player and would be a huge asset for Tottenham.

“However, I’m sure Palace will want a large chunk of the £60m up front, which isn’t something Tottenham usually do. Other clubs seem happy to do that, but Spurs for some reason aren’t.

“Therefore, this will all depend on what other offers Palace have, as I’m sure plenty of clubs will be interested in Eze.”

Postecoglou must push to sign Eze at Tottenham

Eze is expected to be interested in joining Tottenham.

Therefore, Postecoglou needs to ensure that he pushes for the transfer. If the 59-year-old does remain in charge of Tottenham next season, he will be under pressure to perform.

As a result, having a player such as Eze in his squad could come as a huge boost.
