Dominic Solanke return: ‘Huge’ claim emerges at Tottenham after social media hint
Dominic Solanke looks to have dropped a big hint that he is in line to return from injury for Tottenham imminently.
Ange Postecoglou has been without Solanke since mid-January.
As a result, the Australian will be desperate to get the 27-year-old back, especially with the UEFA Europa League set to return.
Postecoglou recently revealed that while Solanke had an outside chance of returning for the first leg of Spurs’ Europa League Round of 16 clash with AZ Alkmaar at the AFAS Stadion on Thursday (6 March), a comeback against Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 9 March was more likely [The Standard].
However, the striker might have confirmed his return after what he posted on social media recently.

Solanke shares images from training at Tottenham
In a post to his official Instagram account (25 February), Solanke shared a series of images, some of which featured him training at Hotspur Way, alongside the caption “tick tock”.
Therefore, some fans will be feeling optimistic of the Englishman returning for the AZ Alkmaar clash, which would be a huge boost considering another long-term Spurs absentee isn’t likely to return.
However, of all of Spurs’ injured players, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is most excited for Solanke’s return.
“I would love to see Solanke play against AZ Alkmaar,” Wenham said.
“Of all of the players currently ruled out for Tottenham, he is the one who I want back the most. I just think he provides a different dynamic up front.
| Tottenham | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Dominic Solanke | 29 | 11 | 6 |
“With Solanke in the team, we might see the best versions of Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert, as they will be able to play off a big target man. I think we’ve established that Tel’s position is going to be out wide. I don’t think he has the physical attributes to play up front in the Premier League.
“Therefore, having somebody of Solanke’s ability back in the side, with his relentless pressing and natural finishing ability, will be huge.”
Tottenham need Solanke against AZ Alkmaar
Spurs’ clash with AZ Alkmaar is arguably their most important match of the season.
Therefore, if they can welcome Solanke back to the side, that would be a huge boost, with the striker position a real weakpoint for Postecoglou’s side in recent weeks.
However, even if they need to wait for the second leg for Solanke’s return, Spurs will still fancy themselves as long as they remain in the tie out in the Netherlands.
