Doctor issues Pedro Porro injury update after Tottenham v Arsenal
Tottenham defender Pedro Porro would potentially have been facing surgery and the prospect of three months out had he not recovered from his hamstring injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert watched the 24-year-old return from a minor setback to play the full 90 minutes against Arsenal on Sunday, 28 April.
The Spain international is also not expected to have any problems ahead of the Chelsea game on 2 May.
Discussing the state of play with Porro’s fitness exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“The worst case for him would’ve been a Grade 4 hamstring rupture and surgery could have been required which would keep him around 12 weeks out.
“The goal was to return versus Arsenal, which he did, so this was a high Grade 1 or low Grade 2 injury.
“The key signs medics will look for is that he’s responding well to increased intensity, especially sprinting and acceleration.
“He played the full 90 minutes versus Arsenal so that’s a good indicator that he’s responded splendidly.
“He should be good to start in midweek as well with no real risk of re-injury.”
Pedro Porro has been exceptional for Tottenham this season
Porro has been a first-team regular this season and Ange Postecoglou has started him whenever he’s fit.
He has featured in 30 Premier League games, all of them have been from the opening whistle.

The 24-year-old has contributed immensely to the club’s attacking output as well, providing seven assists and scoring a goal as well.
