Djed Spence to be sold by Tottenham amid £8.5million transfer update from Italy

John Wenham believes Geona will sign on-loan defender Djed Spence permanently from Tottenham following an £8.5million transfer update from Italy.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that now is the time for the 23-year-old to move on from North London.

It comes after Serie A side Genoa completed the permanent signing of Juventus’ Kevin De Winter, who was on loan with the club, for a fee of £6.8million plus £1.7million in add-ons (via Football Italia, 3 May).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes this could point toward Geona signing Spence permanently as well.

“Genoa completing the permanent signing of De Winter is interesting,” Wenham said.

“It demonstrates that they do have some money to spend, perhaps partly thanks to us signing Radu Dragusin from them.

“That leads me to believe that they will end up signing Spence permanently, and he will therefore be a player who can be easily moved on this summer as part of the continued rebuild.”

Djed Spence is likely to be sold by Tottenham this summer

It is hard to see Spence having much of a future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He has hardly been offered a chance by Ange Postecoglou, with the Australian clearly not a fan of the fullback.

If Genoa do choose to make the Englishman’s stay in Italy permanent, then it would be a welcome financial boost for Tottenham which could be put toward transfers this summer.

In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy and the club are set for a multi-million windfall after what happened this week.
