Deadline Day loan exit for Tottenham U21 ace Alfie Dorrington ‘ruled out’ after injury update – Spurs Expert

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham has revealed that there had been some “interest” in Tottenham Under-21 ace Alfie Dorrington but any moves for the defender have now been “ruled out”.

Spurs’ Under-21s are flying high this season with a 100 per cent record in both the Premier League 2 and the Premier League Cup.

Plenty of their Under-21 stars are performing at a high level, with the likes of Josh Keeley and Ashley Phillips already earning loan switches this month.

Dorrington was another player in line to make a loan switch of his own, but Alasdair Gold has confirmed via his official X account (1 February) that the 18-year-old is facing six to eight weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Bristol City Under-21s on Tuesday 30 January.

In light of this news, Wenham has revealed that plans for the youngster have now changed.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I don’t think the outgoing business at Tottenham is finished just yet.

“One of either Soonsup-Bell or Lankshear could definitely still go out on loan.

“There was talk of interest in Alfie Dorrington, but he has picked up a hamstring injury playing with the Under-21s, so that has been ruled out.

“Alonso could be another one to keep an eye on. Now that he’s recovered from his injury and he’s fit again, Tottenham might be considering sending him out on loan too.”

Lankshear has been in fine goalscoring form this season, particularly as of late, netting four goals in his last two appearances.

Meanwhile, Soonsup-Bell has eight goals and four assists in Premier League 2 action while Alonso has scored six goals and provided four assists of his own.

In other Tottenham news, Wenham is “delighted” after a “never say never” verdict emerged from Sky Sports News.
