Daniel Levy told terms for Tottenham to sign Eberechi Eze after Crystal Palace transfer update
Crystal Palace will hold out for a “huge” transfer fee before selling Eberechi Eze to Tottenham this summer, according to Alan Hutton.
The 25-year-old ended the season in an “electric” fashion under Oliver Glasner at Selhurst Park, scoring 11 goals and laying on four assists in just 27 Premier League matches to help the Eagles finish 10th in the table.
Eze’s performances since Glasner arrived in the Premier League are understood to have caught the eye of several clubs and some reports suggest that Spurs and Chelsea are ready to battle it out for his signature this summer [Give Me Sport, 28 May].
Although Hutton admits that he isn’t convinced Daniel Levy will afford Ange Postecoglou the funds to match Palace’s asking price, he does believe the England international would help take his squad to the next level this summer.
“They’ve had a fantastic end to the season haven’t they?” Hutton exclusively told Tottenham News.
“The three up front have just been electric and they scare defences so of course Crystal Palace will want to keep them together and they will want to build on this.
“Glasner has come in and he’s hit the ground running, they’ve been excellent and it seems as though every player has brought into it.
“Unfortunately, when you’ve got players at that standard, Olise, Eze and these kinds of guys who are playing out of their skin week in and week out, there is going to be big teams looking at them. That’s no disrespect to Palace.
“The fee would be huge I’m pretty sure to get either one of those out of there because they’re under contract and I don’t know if Tottenham have that sort of money to spend on a player.
“Does he make them better? Absolutely he does, he could go into any team and produce the goods so it will be an interesting one, but it’s going to take a lot of money I’m sure.”
Will Tottenham sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze during the summer transfer window?
Spurs are expected to spend some money this summer as Postecoglou has already hinted that he is keen to make serval changes to his playing squad, but the Lilywhites aren’t known for throwing money around aimlessly.
Although it will be widely agreed that Eze would massively improve this current Spurs team, Daniel Levy could well be reluctant to splash out on a new number 10 when he only bought James Maddison from Leicester 12 months ago.

If the likes of Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso depart as expected, maybe then the Lilywhites will be able to find the funds to get this deal over the line. So much could depend on what other clubs offer Palace this summer.
Hopefully, Levy will find a way to back Postecoglou and help him get his man. As Hutton suggests, Eze could genuinely be a real difference maker in a Spurs shirt.
