Daniel Levy to hit ‘breaking point’ as Tottenham exit mooted after announcement

Tottenham Hotspur could see a changing hierarchical outlook as former Arsenal CEO Vinai Venkatesham was welcomed onto the Spurs board.

Some have debated what domino effect this will have on Daniel Levy and his long-term stronghold at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Levy has been in power at Spurs for 24 years, but is the increasing subject of bitter protests from the Spurs supporters who are now almost entirely universal on hoping for his departure.

Levy could reach ‘breaking point’ at Tottenham

It remains mysterious how quickly a takeover could progress at Tottenham Hotspur, as supporters rage at the dismal season their side have endured on the pitch.

While hope remains in the shape of the Europa League – and an all-or-nothing quarter-final second leg at Eintracht Frankfurt this Thursday – there is certainly no elephant in the room regarding the Premier League.

Joe Lewis owns the majority of ENIC – whose regime is becoming more and more resented by the Spurs faithful – but is seldom heard from.

TV commentator Ian Darke, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, believes Levy could reach a “breaking point” with the toxic atmosphere around him, but has acknowledged there is a diminishing appeal for potential investors compared to what Tottenham used to be.

“It’ll just come down to the weight of money, I think, to whether or when ENIC will be out of Tottenham,” he said.

“There’s Joe Lewis essentially above Levy, so he might end up making that call about what deal does end up accepted for the club.

“If you’re a new ownership group, I wouldn’t say Tottenham are very appealing as a project because there might be pressure from Levy to keep him in place somehow.

I don’t know Levy, but I just wonder if there comes a breaking point when he doesn’t want to be involved anymore, with the fan protests and atmosphere becoming worse.”

Spurs takeover has long been discussed

The increasing pressure on Levy could well come to a boil, and the vitriol will speak unprecedented levels of volume if Tottenham are knocked out of the Europa League.

Spurs have issues on both the football and business side of the operations, though it is many of the supporters’ view that the latter is outranking the former for Levy and has done for a long time.

A takeover from various areas of investment has been discussed, though nothing has yet properly materialised.
