Daniel Levy to be ‘dragged kicking and screaming’ out of Tottenham – Exclusive
Tottenham Hotspur supporters appear to have made their largely collective feelings clear on Daniel Levy and their side’s ownership.
Spurs are highly unlikely to finish even in the top half of the Premier League this season and have invested far less via Levy into player payments than fans would like.
Just one route towards European qualification now remains – by lifting the Europa League trophy – which would take not only securing a first major honour in 17 years but also overturning the deficit inflicted by AZ Alkmaar when they reunite this Thursday (13 March).

Levy would be dragged out ‘kicking and screaming’
Reports in recent weeks have suggested Qatari investors are potentially interested by the Tottenham project, with Levy maintaining close connections in the Middle East.
Some believe that if the Qataris proposed a deal which would keep Levy in charge of the daily running of Spurs, the long-serving chairman would take the opportunity for his own gain.
TV commentator Ian Darke, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, believes Levy as it stands would have to be hauled out of N17 “kicking and screaming”, at least outwardly unaffected by the extensive fan protests for his exit.
Darke did, however project that should Tottenham go on and win the Europa League, plenty of goodwill from a long-awaited trophy would paper over the cracks for a while, as a get-out for Levy from the fans’ venom.
“Levy would be very reluctant not to control the club, even if [a takeover] happens, it would appear,” he admitted.
“I think he’d be dragged kicking and screaming off the stage. He’s looking at the protests and the fans marching, hearing the chants, and he doesn’t give much away in the media so it’s hard to gauge.
“But you’d think with most human beings you’d get uncomfortable with that eventually. However, with Levy, that doesn’t feel close to happening. If Spurs rescued their season by winning the Europa League, I think everybody would forget, to be honest. The heat of the situation at least would disappear.”

Tottenham under pressure to sack Postecoglou and Levy to depart
Tottenham fans almost universally want a new manager, new ideas and a new approach.
The equaliser for Spurs from an out-of-form Son Heung-min against Bournemouth on Sunday (9 March) perhaps delayed the sacking of Postecoglou by Levy, but then it has been expected in the aftermath many of their defeats this season and the Australian has remained in post.
Tottenham permanent managers under Daniel Levy | Year appointed |
Glenn Hoddle | 2001 |
Jacques Santini | 2004 |
Martin Jol | 2004 |
Juande Ramos | 2007 |
Harry Redknapp | 2008 |
Andre Villas-Boas | 2012 |
Tim Sherwood | 2013 |
Mauricio Pochettino | 2014 |
Jose Mourinho | 2019 |
Nuno Espirito Santo | 2021 |
Antonio Conte | 2021 |
Ange Postecoglou | 2023 |
Levy is considered a larger-scale issue than Postecoglou, especially given the fact his feet are firmly under the table at Spurs to the point interested investors are often repelled by the idea of Levy retaining some control even if ENIC sell the club.
It goes without saying that on the pitch, the entire Tottenham season and potentially future of Postecoglou rests on Thursday night, in which they must beat AZ Alkmaar inside the 90 minutes to have any chance of progressing.
