Daniel Levy ‘to agree creative Bryan Gil exit at Tottenham’ – Exclusive
Bryan Gil is expected to leave Tottenham for good after a disappointing tenure in North London.
Tottenham signed Gil from Sevilla in 2021 for £21.6million plus Erik Lamela. However, the Spaniard has failed to live up to expectations.
And after several failed loan moves, it appears Spurs have decided to throw in the towel once and for all.

Tottenham to accept a ‘reasonable offer’ for Gil
As reported by Ben Jacobs via Last Word on Spurs (17 July), Gil’s valuation is below £10m.
Besiktas, as well as Celta Vigo, are among the clubs that are said to have shown an interest.
With only a year left on his contract, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Spurs will accept any reasonable offer for the forward this summer.
“I expect Gil to go this summer,” Wenham said.
“I think the best deal Tottenham can probably get now is a low fee with a 40 or 50 per cent sell-on clause. There’ll have to be some sort of creative accounting there to make it worth Tottenham’s while.
“He’s got 11 or 12 months left on his contract now and will be free to negotiate a pre-contract in January. Tottenham won’t want him sitting out his contract for the last year and not contributing, as we saw with his friend Sergio Reguilon last year.
“So I expect Tottenham will accept any sort of reasonable offer that they get for him, and he will go.”
Gil represents a huge Daniel Levy failure
The signing of Gil not only reflects the limitations of Levy’s financial decisions but also his footballing approach.
The forward has been loaned several times since arriving at Tottenham, including a move to Girona last season. However, each of these loans was in Spain, not England.
League | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
La Liga | 109 | 11 | 10 |
Premier League | 24 | – | 1 |
If the club wanted to get the best out of the player, a Championship loan would have been better for his development.
Before coming to Spurs, Gil had not yet played in England. As a result, it would have been unrealistic to expect him to adapt to the pace of the Premier League right away.
However, the loans in Spain have meant that he has failed to get much of a taste of English football in the long run. Therefore, it is unknown whether Gil would have been a success with a Championship loan. However, there is reason to suggest he would have had more of a fighting chance.
