Daniel Levy questioned after Postecoglou sack news at Tottenham

Tottenham could sack Ange Postecoglou this season, though it is unlikely to fix the growing number of concerns under Daniel Levy.

Domestically, it has been a nightmare of a season for Tottenham who have failed to give a good account of themselves in the Premier League.

Europa League success remains a possibility, but even that would do little to subdue the concerns that emerged in North London.

As a result of that failure, Postecoglou remains under heavy pressure at Tottenham, though his sacking is unlikely to fix the bigger issue that has prevented Spurs from winning a trophy in over 17 years.

Europa League success may not be enough for Postecoglou

The feeling for some time now has been that Europa League success would spare the axe at Tottenham, though it was previously reported that Postecoglou could be sacked even if that were to happen.

Seven managers have come and gone since the last major trophy was won at Spurs, with Paul Robinson, when speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, highlighting the bigger concerns.

He said: “You look at the managers that they had. Daniel listened to the fans wanting a trophy, and he employed win-now managers with Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho.

“If you hire win-now managers, they will argue you’ve got to give them win-now players. You know, sacking Jose before a cup final. Was that the right decision? Antonio Conte came in. You look at the calibre of managers that’s come into Tottenham and still haven’t been able to achieve. Conte, Mourinho. I think if you look at those two managers, they will both say they’ve not been backed.

Spurs have been dreadful in the league

“The club is in such a good state off the field. But the fans don’t want that. The fans would take going back to White Hart Lane and winning a trophy, or winning the Premier League or being competitive. The training ground is the best in the world. The stadium is the best in the world. The American football facilities, the racetrack, the infrastructure of the stadium, it’s all incredible.

“The club is in such a good state. But the oversight has been on the field, whether that’s been decision-making or a lack of investment. You look at the players and you look at where Tottenham are with the revenue, ticket sales especially, they’re right up there just behind Arsenal. You look at the revenue of the business, they’re one of the wealthiest clubs. And on the pitch, it hasn’t replicated what’s been happening off the pitch.”

Tottenham need to make changes this summer

Not only does the sacking of Postecoglou seem inevitable, but Levy has to make several changes if Tottenham are to get back to being a side capable of competing.

The next appointment at Tottenham will be crucial, as will any recruitment-based decisions made in the summer.

Levy has to shoulder plenty of the blame for the failure this season, though he has to find a way to rectify that in the new campaign.
