Daniel Levy overpays after brand new Tottenham transfer agreements
Daniel Levy looks to have overpaid after recent transfer developments at Tottenham, Dan Plumley has said.
Spurs signed Antonio Kinsky early in the winter transfer window but waited until the final days and hours to add Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso.
Despite new additions, Ange Postecoglou is still under severe sack pressure at Tottenham, after crashing out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in recent days.
Tottenham overpay for new transfer agreements
Despite the lack of action throughout, Levy stepped up in the final days, flying to Germany himself to try and sign Tel, who initially rejected before boarding a late plane on deadline day.
Johan Lange recently admitted Tottenham tried to get deals done earlier but to little success.
Plumley, a football finance expert, admits that lining up the logistics of a late deal including the cost of the move, travel and hidden costs goes up.
“Ultimately, yes,” he exclusively told Tottenham News when asked if Levy likely overpaid.
“Logic dictates that you get your deals done early and it’s going to save you some costs further down the line.
“If you’re doing it close to the wire, things are going to increase on a cost basis, and it all kind of adds up.
“I still think in the context of the club, it’s important to consider that, because what is high cost in terms of a plane or doing something like that can be a bigger cost to one club than it can to others and Spurs is an example where they can swallow that cost easily.
“It does add up and how I would frame that is the hidden cost of transfers, it’s not just the fee or the wages, the package of the player, it’s all the things you’ve done to get that player there.
“If that gets closer to the deadline shutting, that costs will creep up, so I think you’d have that as one of the hidden costs of transfers that we don’t always consider.”

Daniel Levy told to leave Tottenham
Despite the desperate late spending and a couple of new transfers at Tottenham, supporters have seen more than enough.
During the FA Cup defeat at Aston Villa, fans called for Levy and ENIC to sell up and move on, with the owner even looking like he has had enough in recent images.
Tel and Danso are going to need to make a huge impact if the spotlight is to come off Levy and Postecoglou in North London, with a complete rebuild wanted.
