Daniel Levy makes new European Super League decision at Tottenham

Tottenham and Daniel Levy are likely to stay away from any newly-formed European Super League plans, Dan Plumley has said.

With a comeback in the works, the “Unify League” has been backed by Barcelona and Real Madrid so far, with no other significant support [Daily Telegraph].

Despite being known for chasing extra revenue, Levy and other Premier League owners are likely to continue backing UEFA and existing competitions.

“I think every Premier League club will stay away from it at the minute and do their best to quash it back down again,” Plumley, a football finance expert, exclusively told Tottenham News.

“If you rewind to exactly a year ago when the European Court of Justice ruled that FIFA and UEFA acted unlawfully in blocking the breakaway competition, we saw the big clubs in England come out and pledge their commitment to UEFA and existing competitions.

I think that was a line in the sand for them to say, this failed attempt caused so much chaos in 2021, that we’re now not getting on board with any form of Super League and getting behind UEFA.

Tottenham to join European Super League?

Any argument that comes next with the European Super League puts the Super League itself in direct competition with UEFA rather than the Premier League as it was in the early iterations, so it’s that argument that I think we need to focus the efforts.

At the minute, it seems to be that the Premier League clubs are behind UEFA and that will continue for the foreseeable.”

Levy, Spurs and Ange Postecoglou are likely concentrating on the current woes in the Premier League, never mind any new European Super League.

With the Australian under pressure of the sack this season, a trophy win would do him wonders, with the EFL Cup one of those options.

Forget this, it’s all about turning things around domestically in North London.
