Daniel Levy has leverage over UEFA after new Tottenham developments – Exclusive

Daniel Levy will have been quietly ecstatic after Tottenham lifted the Europa League.

Not only did it end the massive trophy drought for the Lilywhites, but it secured Champions League football for next season and the riches that come with it.

There remain doubts over the future of Ange Postecoglou, with his future the biggest talking point at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but things are ticking along nicely in the background.

Levy has leverage over UEFA at Tottenham

After huge outrage surrounding the final being held in an under-prepared Bilbao, it was revealed that many cities are not ready to host such games.

UEFA are said to love the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but the FA will always put forward Wembley for major finals, rather than those around it.

Dan Plumley admits that it is still a major positive for Levy and Spurs, who have something to leverage for major UEFA and FIFA fixtures.

“With European Championships and World Cups in the future as well, that is everything else that can come with it,” the football finance expert exclusively told Tottenham News.

“It absolutely is leverage, I understand the argument with Wembley and the FA will naturally always put that forward because it’s the flagship stadium and there is a lot of time where it’s not hosting regular football matches like other clubs are.

They’ve got to do that, but that’s not Daniel Levy’s concern, and if you can leverage the stadium with UEFA and they’re keen to host fixtures there in the future, then why would you not? It makes perfect sense.

I’m sure that’s something he’s looking at and will leverage.”

Champions League saviour

After somehow finishing 17th and securing the worst Premier League season in the history of the North London club, Postecoglou has been praised.

The Australian would likely already be sacked if he missed out on the Europa League, and the Champions League that follows that, but he did his job.

UEFA have already handed the 2026 Champions League final to Budapest, and they could learn a thing or two from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
