Daniel Levy ‘delighted’ with Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham despite Champions League blow
Daniel Levy will be “delighted” with Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge as Tottenham manager despite the club narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification, Paul Robinson has said.
The 58-year-old was appointed Spurs manager last summer, moving from Celtic and quickly making changes at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which had some fans concerned.
Tottenham were locked in a tight battle with Aston Villa for the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot for the majority of the Premier League season, narrowly missing out to Unai Emery.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson believes that Levy will still be happy with the Australian’s first season in charge despite the Champions League blow.
“I think he’ll be happy, as most Spurs fans will be. It’s been a good transition, a good change in style; it’s a positive in the right direction. The fans had to endure a lot under Conte and Mourinho, the two so-called ‘win now’ managers.
“I like the way that Ange speaks about his long-term prospects. He’s not interested in winning just one trophy. He wants to build a team, one with an identity, and a style of play, that continually challenges for trophies and Champions League titles.
“He spoke at the end of the season about whether he’d be happy with Champions League football. No – he wants to progress. That’s the ambition of the man. Okay, they fell away at times and the results at the end of the season weren’t great but sprinkle those through the season.
“The lost Harry Kane at the start of the season, possibly the club’s best-ever player, taking 35 goals a season out of the team, and a new manager coming into the club that people were questioning.
“He immediately changed the style, sitting top of the league after 10 games, challenged for the Champions League spots all season and got a Europa League finish.
“Looking at the season, I think Daniel Levy will be delighted with what he’s done.”
Ange Postecoglou shines in first season as Tottenham manager
With many clubs opting for a revolving door approach when it comes to managers, Spurs look set to keep Postecoglou in charge, especially after what many will see as a successful 2023/24 campaign.

The Australian’s charisma and energy is almost infectious, and Levy should be able to see the progression already under his reign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
While it may be a major blow for next season, missing out on the Champions League, there is lots of success to come if Spurs stick with Postecoglou moving forward.
In other Tottenham news, the club are set to “take advantage” of protracted new FA rules.
