Daniel Levy blamed after what’s been reported on Omar Marmoush to Tottenham
Daniel Levy has come under fire after Omar Marmoush was linked with a move to Tottenham.
Tottenham reportedly hold an interest in Marmoush, who looks destined to depart Manchester City in an upcoming transfer window.
Marmoush was previously linked to Tottenham before his Etihad switch, so a January move could be in the pipeline.
The Egypt international could fall victim to Spurs-linked Antoine Semenyo’s move to Man City, which appears to be a likely move in the winter market.
Marmoush could be on the shortlist in North London, but that has sparked further frustration towards former chairman Daniel Levy.
Omar Marmoush link represents what is wrong with Tottenham
Marmoush signed for Man City last January for £59million from Eintracht Frankfurt in the most expensive move of the winter.
The 26-year-old has featured across just two Premier League starts this season and looks destined to depart in the coming weeks.
Spurs have shown interest, but former scout Bryan King has blamed the board for the desperation of signing the City flop after Tottenham missed out on Eberechi Eze over the summer.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “He does nothing for me. I can’t see him being Tottenham’s answer.
“They’ve got a lot of good players, but none of them seem to be performing.
“You’ve already got players on absolute fortunes at Tottenham already.
“They missed the chance to sign good players in the summer, and now they’re scrambling around for players like Marmoush.
“They had a chance with Eze, Toney, Mbeumo, all these players went by the board.
“They bring in these loan players, and you aren’t going to get loyalty from them unless they sign them. He’ll play at Tottenham and then be back where he started anyway.“
Marmoush isn’t what Tottenham need right now
The Lilywhites brought in Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani over the summer, but have struggled in forward areas this season.
That isn’t to say that Marmoush is the answer, as he is yet another option who doesn’t quite have a specific position.
The Egyptian can operate as a number 10 or as a forward, but Spurs are in need of recognised options who are more of a guarantee of quality.
Marmoush has showcased quality at the Etihad, but has failed to do so consistently, which would represent a sizable risk in North London.
