Daniel Levy backed to sign Albert Gudmundsson at Tottenham after £21m+ Fabrizio Romano news
Ex-Tottenham scout Bryan King believes Albert Gudmundsson would be the “right profile of player” in North London after Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the Spurs target.
It was previously reported by Football London (24 March) that Gudmundsson had caught the eye of Spurs, who were showing “considerable interest” in the 26-year-old.
Inter Milan and Juventus are also keeping an eye on the forward, with Romano revealing via his official X account on Thursday (28 March) that Genoa are anticipating bids for Gudmundsson this summer, with the price tag expected to be anywhere between £21million and £25.5million.
With Genoa clearly open to selling their star player, King has backed Spurs to make their move.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “He is an impressive player and certainly the right profile of player Spurs should be looking at ahead of next season.
“I think Ange Postecoglou should be considering adding more forward options because they can’t rely on Son Heung-min forever.
“Gudmundsson is a player I feel could do well at Tottenham.
“I am sure anybody playing in Italy, whether it is for Genoa or another club, would be interested to come and link up with Spurs.”
Could Albert Gudmundsson move to North London to play under Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?
Gudmundsson has been on fire this season.
Following Genoa’s relegation to the Serie B shortly after Gudmundsson had arrived at the club from AZ Alkmaar, the Iceland international scored 11 goals and provided four assists to fire his side straight back to the Serie A.
He has continued to perform similarly this season, scoring 10 times in the league so far while also providing three assists in 27 matches.
It looks as if he will be on the move this summer, and after Spurs’ successful business with Genoa earlier this season when they signed Radu Dragusin and sent Djed Spence the other way on loan, Daniel Levy will hope to use this relationship to his advantage.
In addition, a price point of around the £25million mark for an in-form international could tempt Levy, who always has Spurs’ best financial interests at heart.
