Daniel Levy at centre of Tottenham ‘aggravation’ as impact of recent departure shared
Daniel Levy’s departure has sent shockwaves through Tottenham over the last few days.
The Lilywhites chief confirmed that he has stepped down from his role as executive chairman in N17 after over 25 years at the helm.
Levy’s decision to leave Tottenham has prompted plenty of speculation that the club could be up for sale, with a change of ownership potentially imminent.
ENIC and the Lewis family have denied all suggestions of a potential sale so far, but that hasn’t stopped talk of a takeover, with uncertainty continuing to spread among the fanbase.

Daniel Levy ‘grew tired’ of the abuse he received at Tottenham
Levy hasn’t always been a popular figure for Tottenham fans, as he has been blamed for their failings on the pitch on several occasions over the years.
The 63-year-old built a reputation for himself as a meticulous negotiator when it came to transfer business, and that prompted frustration from supporters on many occasions as they watched their team miss out on their key targets.
That issue was prevalent again this summer, when the likes of Eberechi Eze and Bryan Mbeumo seemingly slipped through the clutches of the N17 outfit.
- Levy spent 25 years in the hierarchy at Tottenham
- They won two major trophies during his time with the club
- They spent around £182million on new signings this summer
However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that the scapegoating of Levy from some sections of the fanbase is what ultimately fuelled his decision to step down.
“I think Levy’s exit won’t impact the club as much as what people might think,” King said.
“He must have grown tired of the abuse to be honest, because no matter what he did or what happened at the football club, he has always come under this aggravation from the fans, who seemed to hold him solely responsible for everything that went wrong.
“I think he took Tottenham from an £80million football club to a £4billion football club. The supporters don’t worry about those sorts of things; all they want to see is their team winning.”

Daniel Levy has left Spurs in a good place
Levy’s departure gives Tottenham the opportunity to transform themselves into a club that can regularly compete for major titles.
Whether their outgoing chief was to blame or not, the Lilywhites simply haven’t been competitive enough in recent years, and they will be desperate for that to change moving forward.
The team have made a bright start under Thomas Frank, and now the hierarchy at the club need to match the ambition that the new boss has provided.
