Dane Scarlett exit: Tottenham striker ‘in talks’ for brand new transfer

Dane Scarlett was recently recalled to Tottenham – but the striker isn’t expected to stick around.

Spurs confirmed via the club’s official website on Monday (20 January) that Scarlett had been recalled from his season-long loan at Oxford United – a decision which was described as a “risk”.

Some supporters expressed fears that this was Daniel Levy’s way of bringing in a striker for Ange Postecoglou amid the club’s current injury crisis. However, Alasdair Gold reported via X (20 January), that Scarlett is expected to be sent out on loan once again before the winter transfer window shuts.

League One high-flyers Wrexham have been tipped as a potential destination, and with time ticking in the winter transfer window, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Scarlett is already in talks with another club.

“It will definitely be another loan for Scarlett,” Wenham said.

“It is just about finding the right club where he is guaranteed game time. I’m glad that Spurs recalled him because when Oxford changed managers, I noticed that his game time suddenly decreased.

“Therefore, I’m pleased the club didn’t sit on the decision and were proactive about bringing him back. I’m sure he is already in talks to join another club on loan.”

Dane Scarlett to leave Tottenham on loan before 3 February?

Scarlett needs to get this next loan spell right for the sake of his career.

The 20-year-old has spent time on loan previously with Portsmouth, Ipswich Town and of course Oxford United most recently, with very limited success so far. However, he is still incredibly young.

Therefore, there is time for the striker to make a name for himself and showcase the potential that he has to Postecoglou and everybody connected to Tottenham.

However, if he doesn’t make an impact between now and the end of the season during what will be his fourth loan move, Spurs might start to have some doubts.

In other Tottenham news, Paul Merson has shared a Postecoglou sack prediction.
