‘Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven set to quit Tottenham’ as big-money exits lined up

Igor Tudor is facing an uphill battle as interim head coach of Tottenham.

Tudor looks set to replace Thomas Frank in North London just days after the Dane was finally sacked, with Spurs languishing in a Premier League relegation battle.

A number of short-term options have been linked to the Lilywhites, with Edin Terzic and Marco Rose also assessed.

It appears that Johan Lange and Co. have gone with Tudor as the former Juventus boss looks set to make his way to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Croatian has reached a verbal agreement with Spurs, and his aim is clear, especially with the future of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero hanging in the balance.

Tottenham to lose key stars if Igor Tudor fails

The expectation among supporters is already extremely low for the 47-year-old, especially with him being out of a job since October.

He needs to be much more accomplished in North London as the interim boss has been set a massive goal between now and the end of the season.

Former scout Bryan King has suggested winning the Champions League could be the only way Spurs can keep hold of their best players over the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “If they don’t win the Champions League, they aren’t going to be in Europe next year.

I can see Romero, van de Ven, Vicario then one of Dominic Solanke or Richarlison wanting to leave.

The Madrid clubs are there, Atletico want Romero, and Real want van de Ven.

If you lose those two, it brings in big money, but they’ve got to be replaced.

Could Igor Tudor win the Champions League at Tottenham?

The simple answer here would be no, but the Spurs players have constantly stood up to be counted in Europe’s elite competition this season.

Frank could always count on his players to thrive on continental nights, with a 5-3 defeat against PSG being the only defeat, but that is hardly a massive negative.

Moving into a more aggressive press system that may create more chances like Tudor’s 3-4-2-1, there is every chance that Spurs cause problems in the Champions League.

Ultimately, the Lilywhites have nothing to lose, so they can go all out, just as they did when they reached the final under Mauricio Pochettino.

It will be an interesting adventure in the final months of the season, and it will dictate where Tottenham’s best players feature next season.
