‘Championship clubs ready to sign outstanding Tottenham gem Abbott’ – Exclusive
Championship clubs are ready to roll out the red carpet for Tottenham midfielder George Abbott.
Abbott spent the season on loan with Notts County during the most-recently completed campaign, where he impressed more than those at Tottenham.
The defensive midfielder contributed to 13 goals in 47 appearances for the Magpies, while producing top overall performances in the centre of the park.
As a result, it has been suggested that several Championship clubs have taken notice of Abbott.

Abbott comes out on top in race during Tottenham training
Abbott is just one young star who is likely to feature for Tottenham in pre-season, as the Lilywhites get their preparations for next season underway against Reading on Saturday (19 July).
As reported by Lilywhite Rose via X (7 July), the Tottenham team recently completed a one-kilometre run at Hotspur Way during training, and Abbott came out on top.
Player | Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
George Abbott | 2024/25 | 47 | 6 | 7 |
This feat demonstrates an eagerness to prove himself, which Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes could impress Frank and other clubs.
“He had an outstanding loan last year at Notts County,” Wenham said.
“I imagine Championship clubs are waiting to take him on loan straight away if that option opens up. He can play right back or centre midfield equally well.”
“He would have impressed by winning the race at Tottenham. Jamie Donley was also in the top four. Therefore, those two seem to be at the top of the pile in terms of wanting to impress Frank.”
Frank has some big decisions to make
Tottenham are looking to incorporate both youth and experience into their upcoming campaign.
This is indicated by the presence of several young players at training, such as Abbott and Donley, as well as the purchase of senior players in the transfer window, including Mohammed Kudus and potentially Morgan Gibbs-White.
As a result, Frank will need to strike a balance between the two. This means knowing when to give the younger players minutes and when to rely on his more experienced players. Therefore, the Dane will have some huge calls to make if he is to succeed next season.
