Carlo Ancelotti claim made as Postecoglou approaches Tottenham sack – Exclusive

Tottenham will need to get the next appointment right if they opt to sack Ange Postecoglou.

With nothing left to play for in the Premier League, Tottenham will have their focus on the Europa League semi-final with Bodo/Glimt, though that is likely to be the last dance for Postecoglou.

Tottenham are rumoured to be sacking him regardless of the success they can find via the competition, and given their horrendous domestic campaign, it would come as little surprise.

However, if Spurs are to find a way to progress on and off the pitch, the next appointment has to be perfect, and perhaps most importantly, he needs to be backed.

Tottenham could make a move for Carlo Ancelotti

Marco Silva is believed to be the front-runner for the Tottenham position if it becomes vacant, though with Carlo Ancelotti set to leave Real Madrid, there could be room for manoeuvre.

Ancelotti is a name synonymous with world football, and Paul Robinson thinks that Tottenham will have to do some serious work to entice him to North London.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Robinson said: “There’s a lot of talk about him going to Brazil. I think for Real Madrid, it looks like he is going to go after the Copa del Rey this week. Xabi Alonso is obviously going to go in there.

“He seems to be a shoo-in for Real Madrid. Ancelotti will get linked to top jobs. Just look at his managerial record.

“Everywhere he’s been, he’s had success nearly. And he’s one of the world’s best managers. Tottenham would like to think that they’re in the mix, but I strongly suspect that he’s going to get the Brazil job.”

Daniel Levy under pressure at Tottenham this summer

Tottenham simply need to get every decision they make right this summer, and the majority of that will come down to Daniel Levy.

Not only does the next appointment have to be a good one, but he needs to be back them with players capable of taking Spurs to the next level.

Recruitment will play a key role for Tottenham as they look to put this season behind them and find a way to get back to competing towards the top of the Premier League.
