Callum Olusesi Premier League debut ‘on the cards’ after Tottenham injury news
Tottenham remain without a host of key players ahead of the clash with Leicester City on Sunday.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will welcome the Foxes to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on 26 January – provided the weather allows the match to go ahead.
Spurs will be looking to make it back-to-back wins after their 3-2 UEFA Europa League victory over Hoffenheim at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Thursday (23 January) – during which one player made Postecoglou look stupid after his “brilliant” moment in Germany.
However, a win against Leicester is far from guaranteed, with Postecoglou confirming that Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and Djed Spence are doubts for Sunday’s clash, while Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven aren’t expected to return [via Football London, 24 January].
Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – expects Olusesi to be on the bench on Sunday after he made his Spurs debut against Hoffenheim and has suggested the 17-year-old might even come on.
“Olusesi certainly seems to have moved up in the pecking order,” Wenham said.
“For him to make his debut was a big moment. He is highly regarded within the club and the England set-up, having previously captained the Under-18s.
“With all the injuries and nine spots on a Premier League bench, I imagine Olusesi will be on the bench again, and he could come on to make his debut in the competition.”
Callum Olusesi to make Premier League debut for Tottenham v Leicester City?
Olusesi is one of Spurs’ brightest young talents and has been involved in several matchday squads this season. He would have no doubt been thrilled to make his debut for the club in Germany, and with so many players still unavailable, he will be hoping to secure another spot on the bench on Sunday.
Should he be involved in the squad, there is every chance that Postecoglou could hand the talented youngster his Premier League debut in North London.

The Australian has demonstrated this season that he is not afraid to give young players a chance, and that could be of benefit to Olusesi against Leicester City.
