‘Byrne trains with Tottenham’ after behind-the-scenes change – Exclusive
Harry Byrne could give Thomas Frank a lot to think about at Tottenham next season.
The Dane has had to make some difficult calls since arriving in North London this summer.
This includes deciding his initial squad for Spurs’ first pre-season clash against Reading on Saturday (19 June). While the Lilywhites walked away with a 2-0 victory, a handful of youngsters did not step on the pitch.
As a result, Frank could already be feeling the pressure of the large squad he has at his disposal. However, things are not expected to get any easier for him as he heads into the new season.

Byrne spotted in first-team training
Byrne signed his first professional contract at Tottenham (30 May) after an impressive season with the Under-18s.
Coming through the academy ranks as a central midfielder, he regularly started for the Under-18s as an inverted left-back.
The winger was part of their Under-17 Premier League Cup-winning side last season, where he scored a stunning free-kick in the final against Charlton Athletic.

The 17-year-old has impressed to the point where Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – spotted him training with the first team last week.
“One player who goes a little bit under the radar as well is Byrne,” Wenham said.
“He was a central midfielder when he came into the team, but he’s been developed into a left back by Stewart Lewis over the last 12 months.
“Really good player, and I saw him training with the first team last week as well. Therefore, he’s obviously doing the right things.”
Byrne should consider a loan move
From his positional change to his adaptability in games, Byrne has demonstrated that he could be an asset for the Lilywhites. However, he is still raw and could benefit from a Championship loan before joining the first team.
Indeed, a loan in the second division would guarantee the 17-year-old more gametime as opposed to the Premier League or if he were to jump straight into the first team.
With Tottenham looking to invest more into their youth in the coming years, Byrne has everything he needs to become a success story.
