Bissouma ‘keen to remain at Tottenham’ amid West Ham dig – Exclusive

Yves Bissouma could remain at Tottenham next season despite recent exit speculation.

Bissouma has been linked with a departure from Hotspur Way following a rocky few years at Tottenham.

The Lilywhites believed they had struck gold in 2022 when he was signed from Brighton. However, a poor tenure under Antonio Conte and an inconsistent two seasons with Ange Postecoglou have made Spurs surely regret their investment.

Although cutting ties with Bissouma might not be as easy as initially hoped.

Bissouma ‘reluctant to leave’ Hotspur Way

The Tottenham midfielder has been inching towards an exit with Turkish and Italian clubs reportedly interested.

But the wind seems to have changed direction in recent days. As reported by Sacha Tavolieri via X (12 July), Bissouma has expressed his desire to remain at Tottenham – or at least in the Premier League this summer.

While transferring to a rival club could become an attractive option, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the perks of Hotspur Way could be driving Bissouma’s decision to remain.

“He’s got 12 months left on his contract and I don’t see him getting a new deal,” Wenham said.

“Hotspur Way is like a seven-star luxury golf resort there with the lodge, the hotels, you get to have a nice life living up in Hampstead or the Crews Hill area. It’s no wonder that these players don’t want to go.

“As well as all the good things of Hotspur Way, it can be a hindrance in trying to shift players who’ve got a comfortable, good life there, who won’t want to go and play with West Ham and be in the porta loos at Rush Green.

“But for Bissouma, hopefully, a Premier League club will come in for him. He was fantastic in the UEFA Europa League final. Hopefully, that will garner some interest in him and he will leave permanently because, as I said, he won’t be getting a new contract at Tottenham.”

Tottenham should close the Bissouma file

Tottenham are at risk of losing Bissouma for free next summer if the club do not agree a deal for his departure or extend him over the coming months.

While Spurs only paid £25million, it would be a missed opportunity not to recoup even part of the funds.

There is always the possibility that the midfielder becomes a key player under Thomas Frank – he is a unique profile that the Dane could find useful. However, given his inconsistent performances, this would be an unlikely option.

As a result, the Lilywhites must find a solution for the Mali international before the window closes.
