Ben Davies contract confusion emerges after Tottenham news
Ben Davies faces an uncertain future with the Tottenham defender out of contract at the end of the season.
Davies has been one of the many casualties of Spurs’ severe injury crisis in North London this season.
However, the Welshman remains an important part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad, even if he wasn’t at his best in the 2-0 Premier League defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday (16 March).
Therefore, fans will be curious as to what is happening regarding the 31-year-old’s contract, considering there are just a matter of months left to run on Davies’ current Spurs deal.
And the lack of clarity around the situation is made more confusing by recent news from Tottenham.

Tottenham plan to extend Davies’ contract
As reported by The Athletic earlier this season (27 November), Tottenham plan to exercise the one-year contract extension option in Davies’ deal.
Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t understand why there hasn’t been an official update as of yet.
“Davies is out of contract this summer,” Wenham said.
“We’ve still had no official update on whether or not that has been extended. I know there were rumours that Tottenham would look to trigger some sort of one-year option.

“However, that hasn’t happened yet, which is slightly confusing because Davies appears to be involved with the first-team squad once again, and it seems like Postecoglou likes him quite a lot.
“He is a valuable squad member and in my opinion, it would be worth extending his contract by a year.”

Tottenham need to make a decision about Davies
There is a lot of uncertainty in North London at the moment.
Postecoglou could be sacked by Levy, and it could be yet another summer of change. Therefore, Spurs might be reluctant to make any decisions on players at the moment.
However, Davies is the club’s current longest-serving player, and he therefore deserves a bit more respect and clarity about where he stands in terms of a future with Tottenham.
