AZ Alkmaar v Tottenham: Destiny Udogie injury update emerges

Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie was out with a Grade 3 muscular injury that ruled him out for two months, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that while the left-back has played two games since his return, he’s still not at 100 per cent.

The Italian played 67 minutes in the 1-0 defeat against Manchester City on 26 January.

Spurs defender Destiny Udogie expected to be given the green signal v AZ Alkmaar

Having played against Ipswich Town as well, there’s no reason to suggest that Udogie will not be in contention to start against AZ Alkmaar on 6 March.

Even though he’s not at a 100 per cent, he may play the full 90 minutes after two back-to-back starts for Spurs.

Discussing the state of play with Udogie exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.

He had a Grade 3 muscular injury that did keep him out of action for two months.

He has played two games since his return, but has not played the full 90 minutes in either.

He’s not yet at a 100 per cent but may be cleared to play the full 90 minutes in the next one.

The key for Tottenham is preventing recurrence.

Ange Postecoglou needs Destiny Udogie to stay fit until the end of the season

As Dr Brar mentioned above, the key for Spurs is to avoid a setback from recurring, and they need to handle his situation carefully.

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping the 22-year-old does not have any other fitness issues until the end of the season.

Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie in the Premier League this season.

Udogie has been his go-to left-back this season and has offered an attacking threat as well as being solid defensively.

It remains to be seen if he can add to his assists count before the end of May as the Spurs finishing has not been up to the mark.
