Ange Postecoglou to hand Mikey Moore his Tottenham debut as behind-the-scenes talks emerge

John Wenham believes Mikey Moore will make his first-team debut for Tottenham before the current Premier League season ends.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims that the 16-year-old could start against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on the final day of the season (19 May).

It comes as the Under-18 ace has been training with Spurs’ first-team and featured on the bench against Chelsea and Liverpool, with Ange Postecoglou recently describing the youngster as “outstanding” (via Football London, 26 April).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Spurs supporters won’t have to wait too much longer to catch a glimpse of Moore.

“Moore has been training regularly with the first team over the past few weeks,” Wenham said.

“We have seen him feature in the matchday squad a couple of times and I fully expect him to make his debut now before the end of the season.

“Everything I’ve heard about him has been positive, the club really like his physicality and strength on the ball, as well as his bravery.

“There’s a good chance that the final game of the season against Sheffield United will be a dead rubber, so perhaps Moore will start that game, especially with the players jetting off to Australia shortly after.”

Ange Postecoglou should hand Mikey Moore his first-team debut at Tottenham

Spurs have very little left to play for this season.

UEFA Champions League football looks to be out of the question while they should be able to do enough to hold onto fifth spot ahead of Manchester United, Newcastle United and Chelsea.

There is every chance that their game against the Blades next week will mean very little, and if that is the case, Moore has to be handed some minutes.

If he is good enough to sit on the bench at Anfield and Stamford Bridge then he is good enough to play at Bramall Lane.

In other Tottenham news, the club are set to enter transfer negotiations for an “exciting” West Ham United talent.
