Ange Postecoglou slammed after what he’s done to Tottenham rising stars

Dan Bardell believes Ange Postecoglou could have blooded more academy talent throughout a largely positive season for Tottenham Hotspur.

Dane Scarlett and Mikey Moore came were late substitutes while Jamie Donley took a place on the bench on the final day against Sheffield United (19 May).

It was good to see some youngsters get some minutes for the first team in a game where there was very little on the line.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes Spurs could have made use of these young talents throughout the whole campaign.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “I think Spurs had an excellent season but my one criticism of Postecoglou would be his use of academy players.

They’ve had times with lots of injuries and players missing and I wouldn’t say anyone has been blooded from the academy.

It is great to see Donley come on to the bench but I think there was room for more of that this season at Tottenham and it’s not ended up happening.

Young players need to step up for Tottenham

Under Postecoglou, things have gotten a lot more positive over the past year despite not achieving Champions League qualification.

After years of wanting an attacking style of play and a tactical approach to get fans off their feet, Spurs have got that now.

What does come as a frustration at times is the lack of youngsters coming through and having a serious impact on the first team.

Oliver Skipp is the only real academy product regularly playing in the first team while the likes of Scarlett, Moore and Donley have been starved of first-team appearances.

The trio have clocked up just 25 Premier League minutes between them this campaign, showing the lack of faith put in them.

They may not be physically up to the demands of the league but they are only going to get better with time.

Fans love to see a youngster come through and make an impact on the first team which would be great to see next season.
