‘Postecoglou’s fate increasingly likely’ after what’s coming out of Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham has been subject to major speculation in recent weeks.

The Australian somehow led Spurs to their worst Premier League campaign, but salvaged their season with the Europa League trophy.

The Lilywhites beat Manchester United in the Bilbao showcase to redeem themselves and put any bad blood from supporters into the history books and giving Daniel Levy a tough decision to make.

Tottenham set to keep Postecoglou around

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Postecoglou could keep his job after bringing a European trophy back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Iconic commentator Ian Darke believes that the 59-year-old could stay in North London despite all the sack rumours.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he expected an announcement this week, saying: “I looked at the stats, 22 league defeats for Tottenham, that is more than any other team who didn’t go down since the Premier League moved to 38 games, it is also one more than when they were bottom of the old first division in 1976.

“It is a hell of a lot of defeats, the question that Levy will be asking is ’do I think this guy, next season, will be a different story, because we will have less injury problems and now maybe we can move forward from it all being football with rocket spells and poetry.

“Maybe you can take the view that Postecoglou is evolving as a manager, and accepting that there has to sometimes be a different way than all-out attack and all-out adventure.

“It wasn’t only the final that they did that in, they did it against Frankfurt and at Bodo/Glimt in the second leg, that would be the case for him to say, give him the benefit of the doubt because he did after all deliver that trophy.

“Or you take the hard-bitten view, that we can’t have this guy and let him make the new signings when he has managed to lose 22 games in a season.

“I would say that every day there is no news of change, is probably in Postecoglou’s favour, I thought we might hear something this week, the silence is on his side.”

Postecoglou deserves time to turn it around at Tottenham

The N17 outfit had an underwhelming campaign, but they still managed to win a trophy for the first time in 17 years.

It would be a very harsh decision to sack him after that, and it seems like Levy may have come to his senses, given the latest news on the Australian’s future.

He deserves the chance to lead the club into the Champions League and a summer of full backing with the finances that come with that.
