Exclusive: Tottenham to hire ‘Massive’ manager easily after Postecoglou sack news

Tottenham shouldn’t find it a difficult task to replace Ange Postecoglou this summer.

This summer is going to be a crucial one for Tottenham, though it is one that they can’t really plan for until the future of Postecoglou is clear.

After leading Spurs to their first major trophy in 17 years, but also their worst ever Premier League finish, pressure is still heavy on the shoulders of the Tottenham boss heading into the summer.

Having secured Champions League football, Spurs will need to recruit very, very well, though much of their business may be decided by who is in the dugout next season.

Postecoglou could be sacked despite trophy win

As a Spurs boss, you have two real objectives in a season: win a trophy and secure Champions League football, and via the Europa League, Postecoglou has achieved both of those things.

However, with tension building between him and Daniel Levy, he isn’t out of the woods yet, and could still be sacked despite that success.

For some, sacking a manager after they technically succeeded would be seen as a major red flag for future appointments, but Paul Robinson sees it very differently.

Speaking to Tottenham News, he said: “Listen, it’s a cutthroat business. We know with Premier League managers, the greatest gift you can give any good manager is time, and managers don’t get time.

“Managers go into the job with their eyes wide open, they know exactly what they’re going in for. Tottenham’s a huge club, we talk about it all the time, the facilities off the field, the stadium, the training ground, the infrastructure, the club, everything. It’s regardless of how they treat managers, people will always want to manage Tottenham Hotspur.

“It’s a massive football club, it’s a massive draw, and the attraction for that would be, look how poor they were domestically this season, that can only be improved upon next year. You can’t get lower than they finished in the league without getting relegated, so it will be appealing for anybody.

“Regardless of where Tottenham finish and how the managers are sacked or how the managers leave, that job will always be appealing because it’s such a massive football club.”

Tottenham cannot afford Postecoglou risk

It is near enough impossible to see a successful scenario in which Postecoglou stays at the club, as the sack rumours will just surface again when things turn for the worse.

After entering the Champions League through the back door, Spurs need to take advantage of the opportunity that awaits them, and with Postecoglou in charge, it feels highly unlikely that they will.
