Ange Postecoglou ‘does not care’ about PR after Tottenham sack latest – Expert

Ange Postecoglou is not remotely interested in the perception of him in the media at Tottenham, Ian Darke has said.

The TV commentator says he is a fan of the Australian, but he should be able to adapt a style of play at Spurs that has cost him multiple times this season.

Postecoglou’s men sit 13th in the Premier League table having lost 11 of their 21 matches so far – with sack speculation growing after the North London derby defeat by Arsenal (15 January).

“From a purely personal view, I actually quite like the guy,” Darke exclusively told Tottenham News.

He wears his heart on his sleeve. He could brush up on his PR, but I don’t think he honestly cares about putting up that performance.

“My general feeling is that amid all of the debate, Tottenham have to just go down the road he’s taking them and see where it leads, even though the results are a long way short of what the fans want. Add a bit of pragmatism to the cavalier style – that could be what it comes down to.

“I wonder if the penny will drop with him, because in this league, they do have to make adaptations that he previously wouldn’t have had to make – and they have a lot of talent but leave the door at the back ajar unnecessarily.”

Tottenham in free-fall in the Premier League

At present, Tottenham’s entire season hinges on what they can do outside of the Premier League.

Progressing albeit rather sluggishly in the FA Cup, Spurs must survive an Anfield storm next month to reach the Carabao Cup final, while the Europa League sees them among the favourites to lift the trophy.

Spurs take on Everton next, this Sunday (19 January) at Goodison Park.
