Ange Postecgolou ‘has support within Tottenham’ as new sack claim emerges

Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham remains uncertain despite UEFA Europa League success.

Postecoglou and his players ended the 17-year wait for a trophy in North London thanks to a 1-0 victory against Manchester United at the Estadio de San Mamés on Wednesday (21 May).

However, Tottenham could still finish as low as 17th in the Premier League this season.

Therefore, while the Europa League victory might have won over some supporters, it seems opinion is still mixed on whether Postecoglou will remain in charge of Tottenham, as a new sack claim is made.

Tottenham players remain behind Postecoglou as fan opinion split

Postecoglou has found life difficult in the Premier League this season.

However, despite being without James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall for the Europa League final, the 59-year-old was able to guide Tottenham to victory against Ruben Amorim’s side.

As a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is unsure of what will happen to Postecoglou, with opinion seemingly split among supporters, while the players remain behind their manager.

“A decision on Postecoglou does need to be made soon,” Wenham said.

“After qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, we now have a completely different list of players we can target in the summer, and potentially managers too.

“I know a lot of Tottenham fans are now behind Postecoglou and want him to be given an extended contract. I was out in Bilbao, and that is what a lot of fans were saying.

“However, there are also those who still think he needs to be replaced. For the entire club, this is a massive summer. It is clear that the players are 100 per cent behind Postecoglou, and I think it is 50/50 what is going to happen.”

Tottenham must decide on Postecoglou soon

With all to play for next season, Tottenham cannot afford to prolong the decision on Postecoglou’s future.

If Tottenham were to replace Postecoglou, the manager coming in would need the time and resources to make sure significant improvements are made in the Premier League next season.

Meanwhile, if Tottenham do decide to stick by Postecoglou, the Australian will need more than a month or two to prepare. Therefore, with the summer transfer window on the horizon and a season of endless possibilities to look forward to, Levy needs to decide what his next move is at Tottenham.
