Alejo Véliz ‘to seal Tottenham exit in creative transfer agreement’
Alejo Véliz’s underwhelming stay with Tottenham could finally come to a permanent end.
Véliz has spent the last season and a half in Spain after he was initially loaned to Sevilla midway through the 2023/24 campaign.
The forward struggled in Seville, and after a disappointing season-long loan spell at Espanyol, the Argentine is expected to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, his stay in North London isn’t likely to be long, with Tottenham already looking at a creative way to part ways with the striker this summer.

Rosario Central want to re-sign Véliz from Tottenham
Véliz made 29 appearances for Espanyol this season. However, he found the back of the net just four times.
As reported by Esteban Edul via X (29 May), Rosario are keen to re-sign Véliz, who left the Argentinian club to join Tottenham two summers ago.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Rosario’s finances will be tight, which means a creative transfer solution will need to be found.
“I think Véliz will be sold this summer,” Wenham said.
“For whatever reason, it just hasn’t worked out at Tottenham. He would be taking up one of the 17 non-homegrown player spots next season because of his age now. Therefore, I think moving him on is sensible.
“However, it might have to be for a low initial fee with a sell-on clause. I think Tottenham will need to be creative with the way they do the deal because Rosario will not have the money needed for us to recoup what we paid for Véliz.
“We signed Véliz from Rosario and might still owe them some of the fee, and that could just be wiped off. Whatever happens, I just think some creative accounting will be needed, but I do expect him to be sold this summer, which I think is the right decision.”
Tottenham should purchase a striker this season
While Véliz is not the answer, Spurs should be looking to add another striker to their squad this summer.
Dominic Solanke has had a good season in North London, but Richarlison has demonstrated that he cannot be relied upon for the entire year.
Indeed, injuries have meant that the Brazilian has watched several important games from his sofa at home. Tottenham again will be competing for several trophies next season, and a greater level of intensity demands more bodies to withstand the pressure.
If the Lilywhites want to build on what they have accomplished this season, investing in a striker is a good place to start.
