View: Three Tottenham players who could leave the club this summer

Tottenham are entering a crucial summer following a turbulent season in which the club finished eighth in the Premier League, missing out on European football for the first time in over a decade.

Although Daniel Levy is still yet to appoint a new director of football, it appears as if a new manager is closer to being appointed. It has been reported that Tottenham will step up their pursuit of Celtic boss Ange Postocoglou next week after being impressed by the Australian coach (Daily Mail, 1 June).

However, while the managerial appointment remains the primary focus, certain players’ futures still need to be resolved, with three members of the first-team squad potentially on their way out.

Tottenham News has looked at three players who could be moving on this summer.

Hugo Lloris

Hugo Lloris has not featured for Spurs since the humiliating 6-1 defeat to Newcastle at St. James Park on 23 April. He was replaced at half-time during that match after he had conceded five goals in the first half.

According to the Daily Mail (11 May), the goalkeeper has been offered the chance to leave the Tottenham Hotspur stadium this summer to join a club in Saudi Arabia who are offering to triple the Frenchman’s current wages.

With just one year left on his current deal, as well as a decline in form during recent seasons, it would be best for both parties to go their separate ways this summer.

Ryan Sessegnon

Tottenham Hotspur

It is fair to say that Ryan Sessegnon has not lived up to his potential since his £25 million switch from Fulham to Tottenham in 2019.

A persistent hamstring injury has plagued the 23-year-old since his arrival which has damaged his progress in North London, despite moments of promise.

The Evening Standard has reported that Sessegnon could be put up for sale during this summer transfer window (30 May).

With time still on Sessegnon’s side, a new club might be exactly what he needs to rediscover his spark which made him one of the country’s brightest young players at one point in time.

Ivan Perisic

Tottenham

It is hard to imagine that Ivan Perisic will remain at the club past September as reports suggest that the player is desperate to leave Tottenham.

According to Calcio Mercato (31 May), the Croatian international misses Inter Milan and wishes to return to the club, having expressed that he regrets ever leaving in the first place.

Alasdair Gold has said that Perisic is “being tipped” to leave the club with one year left on his deal (23 May).

The player is one of the highest earners at the club and if he is unhappy it would be best to move him on.

Big summer

Whatever happens with the futures of Lloris, Perisic, and Sessegnon, one thing is certain, this is a massive summer for Tottenham.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the club decisions will need to be made effectively and efficiently and whoever is left at Tottenham this September will need to come together to pull in one direction.

In other Tottenham news, Pedro Porro is set for a big 2023/24 season with his new club.
