Tottenham to ‘cash in on Cristian Romero’ after shocking footage from Argentina

Tottenham have had a disastrous season and rest their hopes on Europa League success on their return to domestic action.

There has been plenty of debate about who is to blame for the struggles, and while Ange Postecoglou has taken a share of the responsibility, there have to be questions about whether the players have been performing to their best levels, too.

The international break may have come at a good time for Spurs as it provided time to reset and gain some players back from the sidelines, but Cristian Romero may have been set back further.

Romero caught out for Argentina

Romero played the full 90 minutes for Argentina as they took on Brazil. His international side may have won the game 4-1, but it was the Tottenham man who was at fault for the opposition goal.

The 26-year-old lost the ball when pressed by the opposition, having failed to get rid of it, allowing Matheus Cunha to pounce and strike past Emi Martinez.

Although he has been a Tottenham regular previously, the defender has made just 14 Premier League appearances this season, having suffered from two separate injuries.

Tottenham fans were not happy when Romero was called up for this break, having rarely featured this season when his side needed him the most.

Tottenham should cash in on Romero

Tottenhamโ€™s season has not been acceptable, and the hierarchy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will know that they canโ€™t afford to have a similar campaign next year.

With that in mind, there will need to be plenty of changes in North London during the summer transfer window, although with Postecoglou under pressure, whether it will be him overseeing it is yet to be seen.

Although he has missed plenty of action so far this season, there has been huge interest in Romero from the likes of Atletico Madrid, which could allow Tottenham to cash in.

The Lilywhites are said to be eyeing up a transfer for Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, who could prove to be a more reliable replacement for Romero.

With the injury issues in the squad this term, Spurs need to make sure they have a reliable set of players who can perform to much better standards next season rather than carrying sick notes.

Itโ€™s surely time to cash in.
