Tottenham player ratings v Manchester United – 4/10 man stinks up win with shocker

Tottenham secured their first win in three as they secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Manchester United on Sunday.

It was far from an easy afternoon’s work for Ange Postecoglou’s side who did well to shut out the Red Devils and earn a clean sheet.

James Maddison was the man to secure all three points for Spurs, making the most of Andre Onana’s lapse in concentration in the first-half before offering a less than subtle nod to Roy Keane with his celebration.

This is how it remained despite plenty of chances for both sides throughout the second half which ultimately went begging in North London.

Tottenham News have given their player ratings out of 10:

Guglielmo Vicario – 6

A positive return for the Italian who performed admirably and kept a clean sheet in his long-awaited return to action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Pedro Porro – 6

It was a typical performance from the Spaniard getting up and down the line and did well to cope with Alejandro Garnacho who was always keen to cut in on his right foot.

Kevin Danso – 6

Another Spurs ace who put in a positive performance and another who will be disappointed to have been forced off with a potential injury issue.

Ben Davies – 6

A typical performance from the Welshman who didn’t really put a foot wrong while contributing to a clean sheet that wasn’t without it’s challenges

Djed Spence – 7

The Englishman was excellent once again, he showed so much energy down the left flank and proved exactly while he deserves to be starting even with Destiny Udogie returning to the squad.

Lucas Bergvall – 6

Bergvall once again looked comfortable in the midfield despite his age, proving himself to be at the level to compete in the Premier League and was arguably the best player in the middle of the park on the day.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 5

Another game, another injury. The 27-year-old was spotted with ice on his knee after coming off after what was a frustrating performance on the whole. A few classy touches but is fair to say he wasn’t as positive as his partner.

Dejan Kulusevski – 6

The Swede was always looking to make something happen from the flank. Whether that was getting a cross in or shooting himself. Despite nothing coming off necessarily, he showed his class against United.

James Maddison – 7

The man who got the winner and looked to be at a positive level despite suffering an injury in January. If the Englishman can keep up that level moving forward, he is likely to have a great end to the campaign.

Heung-Min Son – 4

Another tough day for the skipper who never looked like contributing throughout. A few wayward crosses summed up his recent struggles despite the well wishes of the home supporters.

Mathys Tel – 5

Despite getting on the scoresheet against Aston Villa, it was a tough day for Tel who struggled at times. He is full of energy and could prove to be a real handful moving forward.
