Tottenham player ratings v Leicester: 3/10 dud could get Postecoglou sacked
Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
Ange Postecoglou was dealt a big blow ahead of kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 26 January as James Maddison missed out on the squad.
The Australian quickly provided clarity, sharing an injury update on the Englishman [via Alasdair Gold on X, 26 January]. However, Maddison’s absence seemed to rock the home side, who made a slow start.
They grew into the game and took the lead through Richarlison, who headed home Pedro Porro’s cross in the 33rd minute.
However, a nightmare start to the second half saw Leicester turn the game on its head, with goals from Jamie Vardy and Bilal El Khannouss putting the visitors ahead by the 50th minute, and that was the end of the scoring, with Spurs’ supporters seemingly turning on Postecoglou.
Tottenham News has rated the performance of each player out of 10.
Antonín Kinský – 5
Was unable to do much about either goal, with the defenders in front of him leaving him short.
Pedro Porro – 5
Played a delightful ball into Richarlison who finished well to open the scoring. However, he was caught out defensively a few times and made several sloppy passes, while he was wasteful going forward.
Radu Drăgușin – 5
Looked more confident on the ball than he has done in recent weeks. However, didn’t cover himself in glory in the opening five minutes of the second half.
Ben Davies – 4
The Welshman didn’t do enough to prevent Leicester’s second goal as he failed to close down Bilal El Khannouss.
Archie Gray – 6
Slowly becoming one of Spurs’ more important players. Yet another impressive performance out of position from the young Englishman, who couldn’t do much about either goal, with the first one coming down the right and the second through the middle.
Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr lets Ange Postecoglou down
Pape Matar Sarr – 3
Looked like he was still struggling from a knock in the first half as he played some very sloppy passes and looked uncomfortable in possession. Postecoglou would have expected more from the midfielder. A really disappointing display which could see his manager sacked.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6
One of Spurs’ better performers on the afternoon.
Lucas Bergvall – 5
Played with energy but struggled to find the right quality in the final third.
Dejan Kulusevski – 4
One of his quieter games as the Swede struggled to provide any quality in the final third to get his side back into the match.
Richarlison – 6
Scored a crucial goal on his first Premier League start of the season and was not happy to be hooked inside the opening 10 minutes of the second half.
Son Heung-min – 5
Son couldn’t build on his performance in the UEFA Europa League against Hoffenheim as he once again struggled to produce anything of note for Spurs.
Subsitutes
Mikey Moore (On for Richarlison, 54′) – 5
Worked hard after coming on and provided more threat than either Son Heung-min or Dejan Kulusevski did throughout the full 90 minutes.
Sergio Reguilón (On for Pape Matar Sarr, 54′) – 5
A relatively uneventful performance.
Will Lankshear (On for Archie Gray, 90′) – N/A
