Tottenham new manager: Inzaghi to turn tide amid Ange Postecoglou sack news

Ange Postecoglou will be fearing the worst after Tottenham were knocked out of both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

The Australian has been described as “stupid” after Spurs were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Villa Park on Sunday (9 February).

Defeat to Unai Emery’s side saw Spurs knocked out of a second cup in the space of four days after they were thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash on Thursday (6 February).

Therefore, Postecoglou looks to be in serious trouble in North London, with all of Spurs’ hopes for the season now resting on their progression in the UEFA Europa League.

Should Tottenham be eliminated from Europe in the coming weeks or months, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Postecoglou sacked. However, if Daniel Levy is going to fire the 59-year-old, he will need a replacement lined up.

Names such as Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola and Massimiliano Allegri have been floated around. However, if Fabio Paratici’s word is anything to go by, Levy will replace Postecoglou with Simone Inzaghi.

Simone Inzaghi to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham?

As reported by Inter Live (10 February), Levy is considering sacking Postecoglou at the end of the season. Iraola and Fulham manager Marco Silva are the two “internal” leads to replace Postecoglou at Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi is reportedly an “external” lead to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Paratici trying to convince the club to hire the Inter Milan boss.

And should Inzaghi be appointed, his wealth of experience could help to turn the tide in North London.

Simone Inzaghi to bring success to Tottenham?

Inzaghi is only 48 years old, which is relatively young as far as managers go. However, he has already proven his worth while managing both Lazio and Inter Milan in Italy.

The Italian won the Serie A title with I Nerazzurri last season and is a three-time Italian Cup winner, lifting the trophy twice with Inter and once with Lazio.

Inzaghi has also won the Italian Super Cup five times as a manager, three times with Inter and twice with Lazio. Therefore, it is clear to see that the former striker knows what it takes to win trophies, which Tottenham fans so desperately crave.

The only doubts over Inzaghi would be whether or not he can make the transition from Italy to England. However, when Levy appointed Postecoglou, the Australian had no experience managing in Italy and had far less experience than Inzaghi in terms of managing a big European club.

Therefore, should Postecoglou leave Tottenham in the coming months, Levy should do everything he can to bring in Inzaghi as his replacement.
