Tottenham can ‘forget Son Heung-min’ as transfer under serious consideration
Tottenham should not bother holding talks with Son Heung-min over extending his existing contract beyond 2026.
Spurs have a decision to make regarding Son after triggering an option to extend his deal by a year in January.
The South Korea international has remained a key player for Ange Postecoglou’s side, bagging 10 goals and as many assists in 36 appearances across all competitions this season.
However, Son, who will be 33 at the start of next season, has already shown signs of slowing down and the North London giants must decide if it is worth handing an ageing player a new contract when they can invest that money elsewhere.

Tottenham approached over Ademola Lookman transfer
Meanwhile, Tottenham have been approached by the representatives of Ademola Lookman, according to TBR Football.
The news outlet reported via their website on 3 March that Spurs are one of the Premier League clubs made aware of the Nigeria international’s availability this summer.
Lookman also has interest in Italy, with Juventus and Napoli credited with a desire to acquire his services.
This comes after Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini hit out at the attacker for missing a penalty in the club’s UEFA Champions League defeat against Club Brugge last month.
Competition | Matches | Minutes | Goals | Assists | Yellow Cards | Red Cards |
Serie A | 21 | 1499′ | 12 | 5 | 4 | – |
Champions League | 7 | 483′ | 5 | 2 | – | – |
As Lookman looks set to leave Atalanta, a move back to the Premier League is “seriously being considered” by him.
It is worth noting that the 27-year-old previously spent time at Everton and Fulham, bagging 11 goals and six assists in 96 Premier League appearances for them.

Lookman to replace Son at Spurs
While it is unclear if Tottenham are interested in pursuing a move for Lookman, they should give serious thought to replacing Son with him.
The Nigerian is five years younger than the former Bayer Leverkusen ace and still has his best years ahead of him.
Like Son, Lookman is also comfortable playing on the left side of the attacker or leading the line, thus making an attractive target for Postecoglou.
There are suggestions that Spurs want Son to retire there, but they are better off investing the money required to keep him in a player like Lookman.
They could also cash in on the South Korean ahead of next season that way.
It is worth noting that the former Leipzig was in the running for the Ballon d’Or last year after helping Atalanta win the UEFA Europa League.
He bagged 17 goals and nine assists in 45 appearances across all competitions for the Italian outfit last season.
