Johnny Cardoso ‘makes Tottenham transfer admission’ after what’s been said

Johnny Cardoso has enjoyed an impressive stint at Real Betis and may be the solution to the midfield fragilities at Tottenham.

Yves Bissouma could possibly leave Spurs in the upcoming transfer window after enduring an underwhelming season.

The former Brighton star has failed to live up to expectations at the North London outfit, and there’s an apparent need for a defensive midfielder in N17.

Rodrigo Bentancur has been Ange Postecoglou’s preferred option in the number six position, but the Uruguay international’s performances may lead to transfer interest in the coming months.

Postecoglou future to determine Tottenham transfers next summer

Spurs have suffered one of their worst periods this season, sitting in the bottom half of the table and out of every domestic cup competition.

Postecoglou has failed to make progress on the work he did at the North London outfit in the previous campaign, and the team now looks disjointed.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Daniel Levy pull the plug on the Australian manager if he fails to win the Europa League.

The former Celtic boss’ exit could possibly have a significant impact on the Lilywhites’ transfer business next summer.

Cardoso makes Betis admission amid Spurs transfer links

Spurs have the option to sign Cardoso from Betis for £20.8million as the two clubs did business for Giovani Lo Celso last summer.

The North London outfit’s supporters would definitely be excited to see the USA international play for them in the coming months after his excellent season in Spain.

With the 23-year-old being a defensive midfielder by trade, it would make sense for Levy to trigger the option to buy him soon.

Cardoso’s transfer is something Tottenham may not be able to realise, though, as he seemingly wants to stay at Betis.

The American national also hopes to play in the Champions League with Betis, and speaking to El Chiringuito TV via Gonzalo Tortosa on X (2 April), the midfielder said: “I’m very happy here, and I hope I can continue enjoying myself at Betis for many years to come.

“The Champions League? It’s our dream and our goal.”

Considering the 23-year-old’s aspirations to play European football next season, it looks difficult for Spurs to convince him.

The Europa League is Postecoglou’s only hope of winning silverware this season and qualifying for the Champions League.

It feels like a tall order, as Athletic Club, Lazio and Manchester United could still be in the competition once the North Londoners get past Eintracht Frankfurt.

As things stand, it doesn’t look like Cardoso will fancy a move to N17, but fans will still have hope.
