‘Ange Postecoglou looks silly’ in ‘unsustainable’ admission amid Tottenham update

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has only made himself look worse in what has been a poor season so far.

Spurs are sitting 14th in the Premier League, with only the Europa League left to play for in the final games of the campaign.

If European success doesn’t make its way to North London, the summer is likely to be difficult for the Australian head coach.

With that being said, Postecoglou hasn’t made himself look any better ahead of a clash against Chelsea with his most recent complaint.

Postecoglou looks silly after Arsenal development

Controversy hasn’t been too far away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this campaign and that has certainly been the case in recent days.

The Lilywhites have revealed that they will face Arsenal in Hong Kong in preseason, in the first-ever North London derby outside of the capital.

After what has been a season full of injuries, it does feel like a trip to the other side of the world to face the Gunners is a slight waste of time.

This is where Postecoglou has made himself look silly after suggesting that the Premier League have to change something to deal with a “draining” schedule.

Speaking to Optus Sport on 1 April, he said: “There’s no doubt that the schedule is too draining. There will come a breaking point – there’s no doubt about that.

“At some point, the league will sit down and say: ‘This is unsustainable, we need to make some changes.’ Whether that’s a break or fewer games, that will definitely come to a head.”

It is fair to say that these comments are slightly ill-advised in the same week that a friendly was booked in a stadium which is 6000 miles away.

Postecoglou gets it wrong again at Tottenham

The former Celtic boss has had it hard this season but the failures of his side can’t be solely blamed on injuries.

Aston Villa have been struck with almost as many fitness concerns this year and have still managed to compete in the Premier League while also reaching the semi-final of the FA Cup and the quarter-final of the Champions League.

This has been done without a single complaint from Unai Emery, while Postecoglou continues to react negatively in the press.

The Australian has welcomed the likes of Micky van de Ven, Dominic Solanke, and Cristian Romero back in recent weeks, but the results have still not improved.

Complaints around fixture congestion will now continue to fall on deaf ears after penning in a preseason friendly so far from home.
