Bryan King was wowed by Guglielmo Vicario's "excellent" save for Tottenham as they beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday (29 September).

The ex-Spurs scout believes the shot-stopper kept Ange Postecoglou's side in the match before halftime.

Vicario got down quickly to deny Joshua Zirkzee midway through the first half. At this point, Spurs were 1-0 up after Brennan Johnson had opened the scoring thanks to an incredible Micky van de Ven assist.

Therefore, King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - feels this moment could have been a real turning point in the match.

"There was a period in the game where Tottenham were winning 1-0, and Manchester United had a very good chance through Joshua Zirkzee," King said.

"However, Vicario made an excellent save, diving to his right before claiming the ball. That could have been a turning point because I thought it was in.

"It was a very excellent save. If United had scored that, things could have been different. Therefore, Vicario kept Spurs in the game at that point."

"A lot of Tottenham players, including Vicario, seemed to raise their game."

However, he responded well to that criticism with a positive display and clean sheet at Old Trafford.

It has been speculated that the Italy international could be angling for a brand-new contract in North London after recent transfer speculation (via Milan Live, 18 September).

Therefore, his performance against Manchester United wouldn't have done him any harm at all.
