Tottenham ‘will be furious’ with West Brom just days after Lankshear signing

Tottenham will be wishing that they hadn’t let Will Lankshear join West Brom on loan.

The Lilywhites allowed the 19-year-old to make a temporary move away from North London this window with a view to picking up more senior minutes.

There was plenty of interest in the England under-19 international from the Championship and clubs abroad [Alasdair Gold] but it was the Baggies who won the race.

With that being said, Spurs may already regret that decision after what happened on deadline day at The Hawthorns.

Tottenham will be fuming for Will Lankshear at West Brom

With Josh Maja and Daryl Dike out injured for Tony Mowbray’s side, it looked as if the young striker was going to come in and become the starting number nine in the Midlands.

This could have been a reason for Ange Postecoglou green lighting a move to the Albion but that won’t be the case anymore.

On 4 February, over 14 hours after the winter window slammed shut, West Brom completed the loan signing of Adam Armstrong from Southampton.

Given the 27-year-old’s pedigree in the second tier, there is little doubt that he will become the main striker option under Mowbray across the second half of the season.

This will likely see Lankshear reduced to nothing more than a rotation option and perennial substitute, which almost makes this loan move pointless.

The Lilywhites will have wanted their academy prospect to go out and play every week in the Championship to gain that experience ahead of returning to N17 in the summer.

This doesn’t seem like it will be the case now and that will likely be of great frustration to Postecoglou and Co.
