Tottenham Under-21 star Yago Santiago running out of time after development on Wednesday

Tottenham Under-21 star Yago Santiago will be desperate to finally make an impact at the club after he was spotted in first-team training.

Ange Postecoglou appears to be using the international break as an opportunity to take a closer look at some of the Under-21 stars at Tottenham.

Most of Spurs’ first-team players are currently dotted across the globe representing their nations.

With Hotspur Way suddenly a little quieter, it appears that Postecoglou is thinking long-term.

While not all of his first-team players are away on international duty, with the likes of Yves Bissouma and Timo Werner left behind in North London, Postecoglou certainly has a lot more room in first-team training.

And the Australian has taken advantage of this by calling up several Under-21 players to train with what is left of the first team.

In a post shared to Tottenham’s Instagram account on Wednesday (20 March), Rio Kyerematen, Nile John and Santiago were all pictured in first-team training as Postecoglou watched on.

Among those three players, Santiago will be especially keen to show the Spurs boss what he is capable of after his bright displays in the Premier League 2 this season, with time running out for the forward.

While there were talks of Santiago securing a loan move in January, those talks never came to fruition.

Instead, he was kept behind to continue featuring with Spurs’ Under-21s, and the Spaniard will be growing increasingly frustrated with his situation in N17.

Santiago has been in fantastic form this season, finding the back of the net seven times and providing five assists in Premier League 2 action.

However, he is still yet to earn his first Tottenham call-up.

Santiago will celebrate his 21st birthday next month and has yet to play any minutes at senior level.

He will be desperate to progress in his career, and with his contract in North London set to expire next summer, time is running out for the winger to make an impact at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
