Tottenham cannot repeat Alejo Veliz mistake after Fabrizio Romano transfer update
Tottenham cannot afford to make the same mistake when it comes to the future of hugely talented striker Alejo Veliz.
Fabrizio Romano reported via his personal X account on Sunday (31 March) that Veliz will return from his loan spell with Sevilla at the end of the season.
Veliz has struggled for playing time with the LaLiga club, featuring for a combined 23 minutes across just three appearances in all competitions.
Tottenham are now said to be weighing up where to send the 20-year-old for the 2024-25 campaign, and they have to think logically.
What next for Tottenham youngster Alejo Veliz?
Veliz is effectively wasting six months of his career at Sevilla, with no option of recalling him, but at least he will return to North London in June.
Sending the youngster to a team where he does not play for an entire campaign would seriously hamper his development.
And make no mistake about it, the Argentina Under-20s international is destined for the absolute top as a Tottenham player.
Indeed, FIFA agent and Argentinian football expert Filippo Colasanto sees Veliz as the top young talent in the country right now.
Asked by Milan News [30 March] who he would sign if he had the choice, he said: “With my eyes closed, I would have taken Alejo Veliz.”
Alejo Veliz goals tally for Tottenham
Colasanto added that he previously would have taken Julian Alvarez, and it is fair to say the forward has not had a bad time of things in England with Manchester City.
Alvarez is a Premier League and Champions League winner already, not to mention the fact he also has a World Cup winner’s medal.

If that comparison is anything to go by, Tottenham fans have every right to be excited. Indeed, Veliz has already showed what he is capable of.
The former Rosario Central player scored his first goal for Spurs at senior level in the 4-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion in December.
This loan spell with Sevilla has been a setback, but hopefully Tottenham send Veliz to a club where he can blossom in 2024-25.
In other Tottenham news, a first-team player has been ruled out for the season in a crushing blow for Ange Postecoglou.
