Tottenham keeper Josh Keeley does something unexpected again after FA Cup goal

Tottenham goalkeeper Josh Keeley grabbed an assist as loan club Leyton Orient earned a 2-0 win against Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

Just days after scoring in The O’s FA Cup victory over Oldham Athletic, the shot-stopper provided the assist for Diallang Jaiyesimi’s goal in the final minutes of the game on 7 December.

Jaiyesimi sealed the win for Richie Wellens’s side after Toby Sibbick and Sam Tickle failed to deal with a goal kick from Keeley, who Spurs will surely be proud of.

The 21-year-old is enjoying his time on loan at Leyton, having made 11 appearances across all competitions so far.

While it is not often goalkeepers get their names on the scoresheet, the Ireland Under-21s international did exactly that for The O’s on 30 November.

Oldham were edging closer to a 1-0 win when Keeley netted a late equaliser and forced the game into extra-time, allowing Dan Agyei to grab a winner.

He, thus, became the first goalkeeper to score from open play in the FA Cup proper while still wearing the gloves [The Times].

It appears the thrill of being amongst the goals has gotten to Keeley as he has now turned creator for the League One outfit.

It is also worth noting that the Spurs ace kept a clean sheet – something he also did against Bristol Rovers in the league on Tuesday, 3 December.

Keeley is, therefore, staking a claim to possibly replace Guglielmo Vicario as Tottenham’s first-choice goalkeeper in the future.
