Tottenham: Ange Postecoglou would have been delighted by what he saw in England U19s clash

There was plenty of Tottenham talent on display as England Under-19s drew 1-1 with Morocco Under-19s on Thursday (21 March).

It has been a breakthrough season for several young players at Hotspur Way.

With the Tottenham Under-21s sitting comfortably atop the Premier League 2, it was only a matter of time before the talent in North London was noticed.

Players such as Jamie Donley and Alfie Dorrington have already made an impression on Ange Postecoglou, and it appears that the duo, alongside their Spurs teammates, are now making waves at international level.

That is because almost half of the England Under-19s lineup for their draw with Morrocco Under-19s was comprised of Spurs players, including Donley and Dorrington, with the former captaining his country on the night.

Four of North London’s brightest prospects played a part as the Young Lions battled to a draw at the Stade Moulay Hassan in Rabat.

Tyrese Hall and Will Lankshear were the other two Spurs players in the starting lineup, with the former having only received his first international call-up this week.

Ange Postecoglou must start to take notice of the talent at Tottenham

All four of those Spurs players deserve no less than to be involved with their country.

They have all been in fantastic form this season, with Donley the obvious standout having made his debut in the Premier League already.

But that does not mean the form of the other three should go unnoticed. Lankshear hasn’t been able to stop scoring as of late while Hall has recently been promoted to a more prominent role with the Under-21s after his standout performances at Under-18 level.

As for Dorrington, he has also been named among some of Postecoglou’s matchday squads as a result of his impressive performances at the back.

The Young Lions were unable to pick up the win, with Chelsea’s Billy Gee salvaging a draw late on after an own goal had put them behind, although the experience would still have been a positive one for all the players involved.

And Postecoglou must start to pay more attention to these young talents.

Kobbie Mainoo’s recent emergence at Manchester United is proof that young players can make an impact in the Premier League, and the four Spurs stars who started on Thursday will feel as though they are ready to follow in their fellow countryman’s footsteps.
