Ange Postecoglou could be set to hand Will Lankshear his debut after what he did for Tottenham Under-21s on Monday (15 April).

The Spurs Academy page posted a video on Twitter of the 18-year-old producing a clinical finish as he continued his fine goalscoring form for the U-21s in their 5-1 victory over Wolves.

The England Under-19 international capitalised on a mistake from a Wanderers defender before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

That took his tally to 15 goals in just 16 Premier League 2 games this season as he continues to show Postecoglou why he deserves a chance in the first team.

Lankshear, who is set to turn 19 on 20 April, is believed to be one of the brightest talents in the Spurs academy.

Having previously been on the books at rivals Arsenal, Tottenham signed the forward for £2.5million from Sheffield United in 2022.

That reasonably hefty transfer fee showed that the Lilywhites had huge faith in the teenager's ability and he's so far backed that up in his opening 18 months back in North London.

His form has surely been catching the eye of Postecoglou, while the academy staff have no doubt been filling him in on the striker's potential.

Although the Spurs boss isn't one to throw youngsters into his side needlessly, perhaps Lankshear could add something to the squad given his recent form.

His side seriously lacked firepower in the 4-0 defeat against Newcastle United on Saturday (13 April), while the attacking options off the bench were also relatively limited.

That clinical edge the Englishman showed in front of goal bodes extremely well for Spurs, with Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold drawing similarities in his style of play to former fan favourite Harry Kane [TEAMTALK].

Although senior forward Richarlison could potentially return to the fold against Arsenal on 28 April, would it do any harm to include Lankshear in the squad?

Even if the striker doesn't manage to make it onto the field, it would hand him a taste of what it's like to be involved with the first team for such a big game.

He would also be desperate to provide an impact for Spurs against his old side if Postecoglou did decide to hand him his opportunity in the North London derby.
